Air Fryer Korean Corn Dogs (No Dough, No Deep Frying)

If you’ve been craving Korean corn dogs but don’t want to deal with making dough or deep frying, this shortcut version is worth trying.
Instead of a traditional batter, flattened sandwich bread creates a surprisingly crispy exterior once coated in panko breadcrumbs and air fried. The result is crunchy on the outside, soft inside, and honestly much closer to the real thing than I expected.
For the cheese version, I used thick mozzarella sticks and wrapped them with two slices of bread to help keep everything sealed. You can also make them with sausage, cheese, or a combination of both.
And of course, no Korean corn dog feels complete without a sugar sprinkle at the end. Add some ketchup and mustard, and you’ve got that classic sweet-and-savory combination that makes Korean corn dogs so nostalgic.
Why Is It Called a Corn Dog If There’s No Corn?

Despite the name, corn dogs aren’t made from corn kernels. Traditional corn dogs are coated in a batter made with cornmeal, which gives them their characteristic flavor and texture.
Traditional Korean corn dogs are a little different. Many versions use a yeasted dough rather than a cornmeal batter, and they often include toppings like sugar, diced potatoes, ramen pieces, or other creative coatings.
This recipe is an even simpler shortcut version that uses sandwich bread instead of dough, but it’s inspired by the crispy exterior, melty filling, and sweet-and-savory flavors that make Korean corn dogs so popular.

Best enjoyed fresh. Refrigerator: Up to 2 days in an airtight container. Freezer: Freeze cooked corn dogs for up to 1 month. Reheating: Air fry at 350°F until hot and crispy.Tips
• For cheese corn dogs, I recommend using two slices of bread to fully wrap the cheese and help prevent leaks • A combination sausage-and-cheese corn dog works great too • Panko breadcrumbs work best because they create the light, crispy coating that Korean corn dogs are known for • White sandwich bread works best because it’s easy to flatten and wrap • I highly recommend the sugar sprinkle at the end. It gives Korean corn dogs their signature flavor and really completes the experience • Any sauce works, but ketchup, mustard, and a sugar sprinkle is the signature Korean corn dog move • If desired, insert wooden skewers after cooking for a more traditional Korean corn dog presentationIf you liked this, you might also like:
